TRAVEL TALES is a collection of short stories written by A.B.M. Nurul Islam based on his observations while working and traveling through the vast swathe of the earth extending from the Land of the Rising Sun (Japan) on the east, through the Central Asian Republics of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the middle, to the Atlantic shores of Europe on the west. The author while working to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons as a Safeguards Inspector was a keen observer of local customs and traditions, human behavior, follies and foibles. He was in a unique position to watch the countries of the former Soviet Socialist Republics emerge from the rubble of the collapse of the Soviet Empire. His insights into the people and customs of these countries told through travel tales, humorous and informative, written in a racy and fluent style, is sure to keep the reader interested till the end.
Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) may have traveled more than the characters in some of his critically acclaimed and world renowned novels. Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet, and traveling writer who wore classics like Kidnapped and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Stevenson was so accomplished that he was a celebrity during his lifetime, and he left an influence on great writers who followed him, including Hemingway and Kipling. At the same time, his works are easy enough to read that they can be taught in classrooms across the world to teenagers.
This book is about my journey with my husband and Honey last year, taking us into adventure and a healing journey. It is a journey on which we nearly died in Spain but came to France triumphant and ready to live our lives to the fullest.
This journey is one of many, but this journey is the latest and the one that brought me here. I have done all sorts of jobs in the past, but the one I enjoyed the most was working with people as a rainer/teacher, enabling people do be the best that they could be and enjoy life to the fullest. So in a sense, I was a motivational coach before coaches became popular. In the end, I had to work on myself more, and it is this journey that has become a healing journey on a road less traveled. I have followed a spiritual path for at least twelve to fourteen years. Now I have come to live in France, only being here less than two months on this date. I have come here with my husband of just a year and our dog to a lovely old farmhouse with an acre of orchard, a vegetable garden, a copse, and four hens. I have always been in love with the earth and have walked miles to raise money for earth charities. I paint, I love making things and creating in most ways. I am extremely lucky and excited by life.
